Early bird gets the worm!

We’re starting the 2024 season getting all the parts installed sooner rather than later! I’m not a fan of rushing a build for what we call the “Subiefest crunch” where we are scrambling to get things done in time for the biggest Subaru show on the west coast.

I decided to go back to my S204 BBS wheels for this season and I got them powder coated to a close match of STI gold! I’m absolutely loving the color and can’t wait to see them installed on the car.

The next major project was finally getting to the RECARO seat project. I’ve been going back and forth on what to do with the seats as this will be the focal point of the interior. Ultimately I decided on redoing the seats in Alcantara with a small RECARO stitching in the seats.

I debated on putting the STI stitching on there also as one of the seats is out of the S203 but when it came down to it, my reasoning was if I ever decided to sell the seats, not having the STI logo would open up to a bigger audience. I also did not want to “upbadge” the beige seat due to it not coming out of the S203 even though they are the same base RECARO SP-X CL100 seats.

I’ve bought and made a quick resistor mod to make the seats work for this project. One is the Airbag360 to fix the ECU looking for a occupancy seat sensor in the passenger seat since these RECARO’s do not come with them nor can I retrofit them in to work. The other is doing the resistor mod which takes a 3.3ohm resistor and plugging it into the 2 pin connector. I took it a step further with adding a fuse with the resistor mod just in case.

Finally I’ve decided to go back to 100% stock engine bay. I tried to get the car smogged a few weeks ago and the smog tech didn’t want to pass me on a small technicality. SOA8431000 is the SPT Intake from SUBARU. The sticker I have shows “D-606” which is for 02-06 WRX/STI. My car being an 07, the smog tech told me I’d fail on the spot. The correct sticker I need is “D-606-1” which just adds the 2007 WRX/STI. D-606-1 is the same exact part number with SOA8431000…

Stay tuned for the next post as I will be documenting the suspension overhaul…
