It’s the little things…

If you haven’t been following along on this journey, I’ve been on the longest road of rebuilding the STI! The first few years of ownership was fixing and replacing all the stupid shit the previous owners did. Then it came to building a forged motor. And all along the way, I’ve been slowly collecting all the parts I wanted for a full respray. Which brings us to now…

I spent the past few years slowly buying all the trim, rubbers, and parts to replace everything that has bothered me with the STI. All the little things add up here and there but slowly but surely the storage unit has been getting filled up with all the brand new in box items. For the dream rebuild, I wasn’t going to reuse parts on it that wasn’t up to my standards.

Some things that will make this car feel brand new was sourcing a set of BNIB European headlights and BNIB 2005 USDM taillights. The European headlights are pretty cool in that it is the JDM style headlights without the amber corners but has the LHD beam pattern.

There’s something about having new headlights and taillights that sets the tone for the rebuild. Before installing these parts, I asked my buddy to ceramic coat them to keep them looking as mint as possible.

This wasn’t done in a 48hr period that you see all the latest Youtube automotive channels do… I wish it was that easy to do a complete rebuild but things take a lot of patience and takes an enormous amount of time and money commitment to get to this point.

I won’t lie, sometimes I see the Youtube boys do some crazy shit and it gets to me. I have to remind myself that even though this rebuild would be considered basic to what we see on social media, to ME, this is one of the craziest things I’ve done and I can’t wait to show you guys what I’ve been cooking.

Thank you,

Kurtis
